  • Her parents were Benjamin and Delphia Sue Thomas. She grew up mainly in Baytown, Texas, spending summers with a grandmother in rural Montgomery County, Mississippi.  She moved to Memphis, Tennessee at age 18.

    1977: she began to work with handmade paper, first making her own with the help of Charles Morgan, Elderbridge Handmade Papers, Atlanta, Georgia
